Background:
"Model Maker" covered all types of hobbies,
from boats to trains, model cars, gas cars, and even R/C.
The "Prototype Parade" series of 3-View plans
that were featured in "Model Cars" got their start in "Model Maker".
Today "Model Maker" is noted as one of the
few sources of information for the development of first Rail Racing,
then Slot Racing as we know it today.
According to magazine guru Don Siegel, the
first rail/slot article was in December 1954.
Many thanks to Don for donating many of the
issues shown in the Cover Gallery to VSRN !
Mike Sells and Mike Thomson have also made
great contributions!!!
In February 1961, the words "& Model
Cars" were added to the title.
In April 1964, "Model Maker" was dropped and
the magazine became "Model Cars".
D.J Laidlaw-Dickson continued on in an Editorial
capacity for "Model Cars".
