5 Mile Point Speedway
Kirkwood, NY
1963
Five Mile Point Speedway has been in operation since 1950.
In the summer of 1963, I was fortunate enough to catch a ride
to the track nearly every Saturday night with the Brearley family,
of Vestal NY.

What I really enjoyed the most about this little 1/4 mile dirt oval
was the variety of cars that showed up - they weren't all alike as
you'll see in the photos. There was an A and a B main each week -
the 6 cylinder cars tended to race in the B and the V-8's in the A.
It was a good way of everyone getting to race, even if you didn't have
a big budget, and the full fields every week proved that.
